About Van Murphy Bed
Ted Barron and Jamison Rantz of Rogue Engineer founded Van Murphy Bed (VMB), blending decades of design expertise with precision engineering. Ted brings over 40 years of experience in interior design and space planning, along with a deep belief that efficiency and versatility are the most essential elements in any van build. Jamison, one of the primary developers of our system, is a well-known DIY and design influencer at RogueEngineer.com, with a background in aerospace engineering at Gulfstream and a degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida. Together, they created a bed system that’s durable, easy to install, and endlessly adaptable.
Ian Ballard joined VMB after its inception. He brings a wealth of experience from his time as a federal firefighter. Growing up in the picturesque landscapes of Oregon, his passion for hiking, fishing, and camping shaped his vision for VMB. He dreamed of creating an outdoor vehicle that could adapt to various lifestyles, whether it’s thrilling weekend adventures with the family or solo escapes into nature.
